SB + Circa 77 Vintage
I was combing through some of my hard drives and stumbled across this shoot we did a few years back. The vintage Oscar de la Renta red dress, beaded top, and sunnies were all on loan to us from the wonderful ladies at Circa 77 here in Denton.

Moore Family | Downtown Denton Family Lifestyle Session
I tried to think back in my mind and count how many times I've photographed them now, but I couldn't. I met Matt and Aline when they were just "Matt and Aline" - and instantly loved them. But then Maya came along and ohmygosh. I just adore Maya. Considering the fact that she was soooo not into my presence during one of our previous sessions, this felt like a huge win to me personally. I loved making her laugh and watching her run around. We had the most fun yesterday morning, exploring the square in downtown Denton (where we shot their first session back in the day.) So. Much. Fun. I'd apologize for all the images but SORRY NOT SORRY, GUYS. It was cuteness overload and I just couldn't help myself.

Love this family. LOVE. I first photographed them...Amber says it was three years ago...and since then, I've worked with them a couple of times and have grown to absolutely adore all of them for a million, trillion reasons.
Amber messaged me last week about photos and I was so excited to be able to get them on the schedule yesterday. We talked about LSA and when Amber said, "COLOR. ENERGY. HAPPY." - I was immediately on board. One thing I really love about LSA is the collection of super colorful, unique murals they have on their rooftop patio. I know and support the work of quite a few of the artists involved, so it's always a privilege to use their gorgeous work as a backdrop.
Here are a few of my favorite shots...I still have more to go through, but I couldn't wait to get some of them up on the blog! If anyone sums up "happy" and "energetic," it's this group of rad humans right here.

Charles Bradley
Over the weekend, the world received the news that Charles Bradley lost his fight with cancer and left this world at 68 years old. He was one of our headliners for 35 Denton 2016 and I can say, without a doubt, that he was one of the most unique, light-filled beings I have ever met in my entire life. I didn't share any deep conversations with him, but had the opportunity to meet and photograph him quickly in his dressing room backstage before he went on to give Denton one of the most energetic and charismatic shows we've ever seen. He immediately took my hands in his, pulled me in, and called me his friend.
Funny how one man could touch people so deeply with such brief interactions. I've been listening to his music again, still completely in awe of his compassion, humility, and love for his fellow man in spite of the pain and difficulties he experienced.
Here's a link to the promo we made with ARTLAB3000 and Jon Collins announcing him as a headliner.
RIP Charles. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.
Kadie + Ian | Oak-Hickory Historic District Engagement Session
Slowly working my way backwards in the backlog of sessions and weddings that need to be blogged. I don't always blog every single thing I shoot and it's never for a personal reason - getting the images turned around and delivered fairly quickly to clients on the back end and moving on to the next project are always my first priorities, but it's definitely time to start sharing more of my work on my own page, as well. I'm probably going to start working back and pulling things from waaaaay in the past as well. Losing my old blog was a nightmare, but it's time to put more effort on rebuilding. Working on it, anyway.
Believe it or not, I used to live in the carriage house on the same property as the location of this engagement session (Ian's parents' home.) A visual dream, basically. All of the homes in the Oak-Hickory Historic District are amazing, but their garden is a magical place full of caterpillars (check out the red one cozying up to Kadie's ring on the passion flower), fluttering butterflies, and gorgeous flowers I don't even know the names to.
Kadie and Ian are the sweetest. They met while volunteering at UNT and are getting married this November and I. Could. Not. Be. More. Excited. that their wedding day is approaching so quickly! These two laugh and play and have fun together so easily, which makes working with them a dream. Bonus: We're shooting Kadie's bridal session this week in the same spot, so I'll be sharing those after their wedding.

S.
